I hired Stein Masonry in fall 2024 for extensive hardscaping and drainage work at my Randolph home, and the project truly transformed both my property and my quality of life. From our first meeting, Juliana Stein immediately understood my main concern, which was drainage issues that were causing water to leak into my basement. Before the project, I was dealing with water problems, weeds, a broken mudroom step, and an unsafe, deteriorating wooden deck. Juliana and her husband Gil were knowledgeable, thoughtful, and solution-oriented. After removing the old deck, they discovered that the space under the mudroom was completely open, supported only by pylons. This explained why animals, including a groundhog, field mice, and rabbits, had been living underneath. Stein Masonry filled the area with cinderblocks, cemented it over, and properly secured the structure before installing a beautiful new paver patio. They also replaced the steps with granite and fieldstone, added a stunning paver walkway from the driveway to the backyard, installed drainage piping tied into the gutter downspouts, replaced a rotting fence with vinyl fencing and two access gates, coordinated driveway work, and seal coated the bulkhead stairs to address leaks. There were a few minor issues along the way, such as some damage to a pipe near the electric meter, but everything was addressed and resolved responsibly. The finished work looks high-end and beautifully crafted, and my mom even commented that it looked very expensive, which reflects the polished, upscale appearance. The pricing was reasonable compared with other estimates I received, especially considering the scale and quality of the work. By the end of the project, Juliana and Gil felt like family.
